The Volkswagen Touareg is a medium-sized sport utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured by the German carmaker Volkswagen since 2002. The car was named after the Tuareg people living in North Africa. The Touareg with the V10 engine holds the world record for the largest passenger-towed load when towing a Boeing 747.
In 2002, Volkswagen Touareg models with petrol engines were available at 3.2 V6 / 162 kW, 4.2 V8 / 228 kW and a ten-cylinder 5.0 V10 TDI / 230 kW turbo-diesel.
