This kit from Avis is a completely new mold!
The Stearman Hammond Y-1S is a versatile monoplane developed and manufactured by Stearman Hammond Aircraft in the 1930s; it underwent evaluation tests by the U.S. Navy and the Royal Air Force. The first prototype Y-1 was driven by a propulsion propeller with a 125hp-output engine, but due to its low performance, it was renamed the Y-1S after being equipped with an engine with an output of 150hp. It was designed to be easy to maneuver, but only 20 were produced due to its high price. This aircraft had no rudder, the vertical stabilizer was adjustable but fixed in place during flight, and turning was done using ailerons and elevators.
This model kit comes with photo-etched parts, a painting mask sticker and decals for two U.S. civilian versions.
